The Mystery Picture

We each had a small square of a bigger picture. We had to copy the picture making it larger and then match the colours using pastels - it was very tricky as we had to look very closely. Then we had to put the picture back together just like a jigsaw puzzle - good job the squares had numbers on the back.

Ivan's vist to the Tip Top Factory

A couple of weeks ago Ivan went on a trip to the Tip Top Factory with Mrs Osborne.  He took some photos from outside the factory as cameras were not allowed inside.
He had a great day and has put together a show of the day using Windows Movie Maker.  He was helped by Nasoni and Deago.

The Pohutukawa Tree

Crystal and Keshika read an article in a Junior Journal about the Pohutukawa tree. They then decided to find out more information after spotting what looked like a Pohutukawa tree opposite the school library. But from the information they had they knew it was flowering at the wrong time of the year. They tried to discover the answer to this problem. During their research they used books, the computer and experts Mrs Traill and Ms Mulrennan.

They then decided to present their work by putting together a movie using Windows Live Movie Maker. They planned the steps they needed to take and here is their end result.

Mondrian Art

We looked at the work of the artist Mondrian. Then we copied his style and created our own pieces of art. We used horizontal and vertical black lines. Then we added the primary colours red, blue, and yellow - not forgetting to leave some white areas.

Dragon Cinquains

We have been writing cinquain poems about dragons. First we had to think about the characteristics of a dragon. Then we had to think of some other words for the dragon. Next we had to think of some adjectives to describe the animal, and some verbs connected with the animal. Finally we had to write a short phrase (a group of words) to do with the animal.

Then we used the format of a cinquain poem.  Here are some of our poems.

Be Prepared to be Amazed

This story is chapter one of Kevin's dragon story!
Watch out for his incredible use of language!!

The Mystery Has Just Begun
Chapter One
Once upon a time there was a great knight, a peaceful one.  People called that knight the mystical knight.  The land was called Advena, the Land of the Mysterious Dragons.  The dragons weren’t friendly at all.  That’s why they needed knights to fight them off.
One day in Advena a robot dragon shot right down and struck right at the mystical knight’s meditation room, and blasted a flamy fire.  But as fast as lightning the mystical knight dodged it and looked at him, and did a fiery flame back, but the robot dragon flew back up.
The mystical knight said, “What was that power?  Where did it come from?”
He was thinking someone had made it.  But who?
To be continued.........
Be prepared to read chapter two,
The  Dragon’s End!

This year is the Chinese Year of the Dragon

We have been writing stories about dragons from our imagination.  Here is the first, written and published by Deago.  You will have to watch out for Part Two!

The King and the Dragon
Part One
Once upon a time far, far away lived a dragon and his battle force. The dragon made a plan. He    said, ’’we should destroy every last man, woman and child.’’
Then they walked right up and the dragon said, ’’this is the time to destroy the whole town. Wahaha moughahaha victory is mine. Let’s start it’’.
’’Sir do you need some water?’’
“yes,”
“Here you go.”
“Thanks”
“You’re welcome.’’
“Go and  destroy the universe. Yay now we can be victorious. yes yes yeeees waaa hooo, let’s rock it out.”
Boom. Come on let’s do it. Yeeyot come on. The king felt some rumbling so he sent an army out. The dragon knocked the army down like rocks. The dragon almost threw the king away.
